To sign up or not to sign up…

There is an online class being held by Christi Friesen, on how to create the Steampunk look with polymer clay in the style she is famous for.  I came across it several weeks ago and have been hemming and hawing over it, whether to sign up or not (it costs $40 and runs for six weeks).  It starts January 9, so there is still time for me to sign up for it, but I’d be a little behind while waiting for some of the supplies.

I really like her style, it seems so easy yet looks so complicated, but I don’t know how often I’d use the Steampunk style if at all.  I don’t know, it may be fun to join just to learn how to do it and if I like it I can run with it…

Anyway, below are some of her books if you want to take a peek at some of what she does, and below that is the link to her website for even closer views of her work.

Pretty rings

There is a blog I came across using Entrecard that I marked on my favorites on the EC toolbar.  It is a gal who makes rings with wire wrapping, and it looks really neat.  She also has an Etsy store, and has a LOT of rings up for sale.

Here is one that caught my eye, simply because it happens to be my favorite color – and the skull bead makes it badass:

I’ve always wondered about wire wrapping and trying my hand at it, but strangely I find the few times I’ve tried simple stuff, I am quite clumsy and end up putting dents or ugly unwanted bends in the wire. I can do simple wire looping to connect beads together, but the wrapping like above? Pshaw, I think I’d have a mangled mess!  So I give her props, she has some pretty fine looking wire wrapping there!

Anyway, here is a link to her blog, too:

Go! Go check out her rings!
