Making extra moneyPosted on November 21st, 2008 @ 3:02 pm
I will admit it – we are credit card junkies, although we have gotten better about how many cards we carry balances on. But at the same time, I always find myself trying to figure out ways to make a little extra money on the side so we can start paying down those vicious balances and free up all that extra money. One of the ways of possibly making extra money is through blog marketing, which I think I am going to try doing.
The other day I came across this new site called Snapbomb, where you can get paid to blog about various different topics. I have already tried a little bit of subtle blog advertising here but I haven’t had much luck with it yet, so I am hoping that with paid posting I am a bit more successful at generating some spare income. I am going to try Snapbomb and see if they are a good fit for me. With the state of the economy right now I’m sure you’ll probably start hearing a lot more buzz about this site, so if you’re looking for a way to make a few dollars here and there, I suggest you take a peek over there and see what it’s all about.

It’s been catching quite a bit of spam.
Inappropriate spam. And if you post inappropriate comments, then you know who you are.
How do you like the spam purgatory? It sure isn’t lonely there, you’ve got company for sure. Enjoy your stay!

I am so ticked off right nowPosted on November 5th, 2008 @ 10:40 am
I have changed the theme to match my other site, which works.
Identical themes.
Both with several errors when run thru the W3 Validator, yet the other site works, and this one does not.
The only differences are the content and widgets.
I even tested a theory and added a supposed missing closing div tag. It eliminated one error in the validator, but remains broken.
I re-unzipped and re-uploaded the theme so it’s “fresh” and right out of the box.
Site is still broken.
AGHAGHGHGGGG!!!!!
I’m hella pissed.
At this point I am [thisclose] to just backing up my damn database and wiping the site and installing it all over again.
Excuse me while I go bang my head against a wall.
I fixed it. Weird stuff indeed.

Tag – you’re it!Posted on October 25th, 2008 @ 2:44 pm
So I have been tagged by Irene at Happy Healthy Families. I’m supposed to share some things about myself that I haven’t mentioned here before. This should be interesting since I can’t remember half of the stuff I’ve written about without going back to read it. LOL So we’ll see how this works.
- I developed my fear of spiders back in high school during a family pool party at my parents house. I was climbing the steps of the slide when I felt something brush my arm as it fell. I looked down and saw a HUUUGGE wolf spider clinging to my t-shirt. I froze and all I could say was “get it off, get it off, get it off, GET IT OFF!!!”
- I cannot stand reality shows, except maybe the Amazing Race. I also cannot understand why anyone would PAY to watch more of a reality show (a’la “Big Brother”). I know people are pretty much voyeurs by nature, but geeze.
- I went to a NKOTB concert when I was in high school.
- Donnie was my favorite.
- My youngest brother and my mother are both bipolar.
- The diamond in my engagement ring belonged to my husband’s great-grandmother – it was in HER engagement ring.
- I’ve been in three car accidents, but was always a passenger. The worst one was the one where my mom was highway hypnotized on the I-10 through Texas and we rear-ended an R.V. – and totaled the rental car we were driving. No one was seriously injured, just bruised from the seat belts.
- The R.V. sustained hardly any damage at all. The people driving it were on their way to our city to visit their kids. They drove us home. Yep.
Ok, there’s my eight things. That was easier than I thought.
Now here are rules:
1. Each player starts with eight random fact/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. A the end of your blogpost, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their name.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and to read your blog.
Now I just have to figure out who to tag next…
I just picked people out of my comments. Have fun!

When leaving comments…Posted on October 19th, 2008 @ 7:58 am
Just a quick FYI – when you leave comments and have multiple URL’s you want to leave, or any URL for that matter, within the comments (instead of linked to your name by the software), don’t forget to set them up so they convert to a URL with the HTML code:
<a href=”http://www.thisisyoursite.com/”>Visit my blog!</a>
Otherwise it will just show up as highlighted words but won’t go anywhere. And if I don’t already have you in my blogroll, I won’t know where to visit!
And whether you put in “nofollow” is up to you, I have my blog set up so if you include your URL tied to your name, it will leave it as a dofollow link so search engines will give you credit for it being a linkback.

A disappointing end to my weekendPosted on October 5th, 2008 @ 4:44 pm
There is a paid posting company that I was patiently waiting to sign up for, and up until this week their ToS said the minimum requirements for “blog age” was 30 days and 10 posts. I was excited when I realized my blog was old enough to apply, and I sent in my application on September 25.
Usually it would only take a few days for a blog to be reviewed and then acceptd or denied, but when my waiting period had surpassed their typical time frame, I sent in a ticket inquiring about the status. I was told they were behind about two weeks, but that mine would be reviewed eventually.
THEN they changed their minimum requirements to 90 days & 20 posts. Mind you, this is *after* I originally submitted my application. Today, I get a rejection letter, “your blog isn’t old enough, blah blah blah”.
It is quite disappointing to hear this. I mean, I submitted my blog before they made this change. How is that fair to me when they were the ones behind a couple of weeks in reviewing blogs? How is that really fair to ANYONE who was in that queue right along with me?
That’s like a retail store changing the price on a product you have in your hands while you’re standing in line, and refusing to honor the price tag that is both on the product and on the shelf.
Thanks for pulling the rug out from under me.

200 clicks and finding my nichePosted on September 24th, 2008 @ 3:42 pm
I think I’m all clicked out today. I was slacking on my Entrecard clicks the last few days, so today I decided to make up for it. I hit 200. I know it’s not the max, but I think that’s the most I’ve done so far.
It took the better part of my day since I had to intertwine it with doing work at the day job. Hopefully if most of those I clicked today reciprocate, when I log in tomorrow and use the EC Toolbar, it will load more than just a handful of peoples’ widgets when I click “inbox”.
In other news… I am still trying to figure out what type of niche to chose for my niche blogs. From what I’ve read it doesn’t even have to be anything I am an expert at, just something I am interested in. Problem is, most of the stuff I like that I have looked up is pretty mundane and doesn’t get a lot of keyword hits for the most part. Blah. I guess I’ll keep trying.

Thinking about setting some goalsPosted on September 22nd, 2008 @ 11:20 am
Over the weekend I came across a site that led me to pick up another domain and set up a couple more blogs, to try a different avenue to earn some extra money, hopefully, once things get rolling on the blogs. One blog will be a review site for video games on all consoles, hopefully written by my husband and his best friend, and occasionally some posts by me as well. The other blog will be reviews about the safety of products geared toward babies and toddlers.
