Sweet melodies
My tastes in music vary pretty widely, although not quite as much as my husband’s.
But anyway. I like listening to stuff from the 80s and 90s (mostly alternative from the 90s); I’ll occasionally listen to hard rock/alternative, which includes Korn and Tool; if the mood strikes, I’ll also listen to easy listening. Then there are newer bands that I like listening to, including Evanescence, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, and even some Rhianna, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus. Yes, even M.C. And on the other end of the spectrum, new age type stuff.
So yeah, I have a fairly wide range of tastes in music, depending on my mood.
But I’d have to say my favorite type of all, is movie soundtracks – movie scores, to be more precise. Some of my favorite score composers are Hans Zimmer, Klaus Bedelt, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, and Danny Elfman, to name a handful. When I am working, since I don’t have to spend all day on the phone or even talk to a single soul if I don’t need to, I usually wear headphones (most of the people in my department do), and I’d say four out of five days I’ll probably be listening to movie scores. I haven’t purchased any new ones recently, so the ones cycling in my iPod are “Gladiator”, “The Time Machine”, all three scores from “Pirates of the Caribbean”, and “Superman Returns”. The next set that I listen to less frequently is “Edward Scissorhands”, “The Dark Crystal”, “The Neverending Story”, and “Labyrinth”. After those, on the one day I may not be in the mood for that type of music at work, I have this set, David Gahan’s “Hourglass”, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys (all of those released in the last four or five years I think), and Evanescence.
I typically listen to the entire albums rather than one or two songs from them, too, which is why only a few are listed together in my sets.
So there you have it – my musical preferences.
