Every year Amazon has this neat program where they list three different products that, if it receives enough votes, will be available for certain selected buyers to purchase at a GREAT discount price (sometimes like 50% off). This year they have 18 different products to vote on in six rounds. If you vote, you get entered into a drawing to get a chance to buy the product that wins the vote in its round.
We participated a couple years ago when the Wii was especially hard to find, and we won the opportunity to buy it, and got it for my husband’s brother as a Christmas gift.
This year they have a choice of three PS3 bundles – each with a PS3, a game and a movie, ranging in price from $199 to $229 (the $229 version actually has 2 movies, I think, both of them James Bond movies). So whichever one wins the vote will be available to 500 people to buy (I think the purchase limit is one per winner in these deals). The other “rounds” have other different products, round 3 has a 46″ Samsung HDTV for $699 (should it win, of course)!
Not every one will win of course, but hey it’s worth a shot if you’re eyeing one of the products as a gift to someone, or even to yourself, and that product wins the vote and you get drawn to be able to buy it if you want… so go visit Amazon to participate in the voting… You never know, you may win the chance to buy a great product at a super low price! But hurry, the first rounds end soon – as of tomorrow!
Chipotle for lunch.
Chips and guac on the side.
Jalepenos in the guac.
OOOOWWWWW!!!!! They’re too hot for me today. Which is sad because I like their guacamole. Oh well.
My husband and I have wanted a hybrid for a while now, but it just hasn’t been in the cars, I mean cards. We are only making payments on one of our two cars, but it is almost $300 a month, and there is still at least three years left on it I think. We’ve kind of been eying the ones that would get us the most MPG due to how far we have to commute one way each day. Anyway, it will probably be a while before we can afford buy one.
But if you own one already, or know someone who does and can’t think of anything to get them for Christmas, there is a site I found that sells loads of accessories geared toward hybrid cars of all makes – Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Dodge, Saturn, etc., etc.. It’s called Juiced Hybrid, and they even have a special right now where you can receive free shipping on purchases over $99! Considering how some things like rubber all-weather floor mats and cargo liners can be pretty heavy, this is a great bonus!
Browsing around their site it appears a lot of Juiced Hybrid’s products are geared towards the Prius Hybrid, which happens to be one of the cars my husband and I have considered looking into buying at some point. But they carry items for other hybrids, like the Saturn Green Line VUE and AURA, the Honda Civic & Insight Hybrids, and even the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid, and loads more!
Some of the items at Juiced Hybrid also appear to be compatible with non-hybrid cars, so if you’re looking for car related gifts, don’t discount this site just because it is specialized for hybrid owners. Floor mats are pretty universal within model types, so what works in a Hybrid model will probably work in it’s non-hybrid sibling model, so if your dealer is out of stock and you’re in need of new mats, it’s worth a look!
I’ve noticed that some commenters have been leaving multiple links in their comments, and that is fine, except I am seeing that they are not links, which is not going to help you get back links.
I don’t know if something is happening with my comment script (please let me know if this is the case), or if people are just forgetting how to format the links. If it is the latter, then here is how to format them so that you will have backlinks:
<a href=”http://www.thisismywebpage.com”>This is My Web Page</a>
Again, please let me know if you are putting them in this way but for some reason that is not how they are showing up once you click submit. Otherwise, use the above formatting, replacing the url with your own of course, to ensure that your links will show up in the comments and will provide you with backlinks.
This concludes our HTML tip for the day.
I think the Kiddo brought home a cold, and it’s trying to invade my space.
*shakes fist* Go away! I don’t want you here days before a holiday!!
So I’m sitting here consuming a huge glass of orange juice and took two vitamin C pills.
I hope it goes away… I don’t want to be miserable for Thanksgiving!
I will admit it – we are credit card junkies, although we have gotten better about how many cards we carry balances on. But at the same time, I always find myself trying to figure out ways to make a little extra money on the side so we can start paying down those vicious balances and free up all that extra money. One of the ways of possibly making extra money is through blog marketing, which I think I am going to try doing.
The other day I came across this new site called Snapbomb, where you can get paid to blog about various different topics. I have already tried a little bit of subtle blog advertising here but I haven’t had much luck with it yet, so I am hoping that with paid posting I am a bit more successful at generating some spare income. I am going to try Snapbomb and see if they are a good fit for me. With the state of the economy right now I’m sure you’ll probably start hearing a lot more buzz about this site, so if you’re looking for a way to make a few dollars here and there, I suggest you take a peek over there and see what it’s all about.
I just heard from my husband that the show, Pushing Daisies, will probably be cancelled.
WTF, man? It seems like the networks always, ALWAYS are canceling the interesting shows and keeping the crap, unless an interesting show is really super uber popular (a’la Heroes). We both swear the network execs must smoke crack daily to make the decisions they do on what shows stay and what shows get the ax. Why do they still base their decisions primarily on Nielsen ratings?? With the throng of Tivo and other DVR recorders, you’d think they would find some way to take their ratings from those devices, especially since many people have dual tuners or multiple devices in the house that record shows that are on at the same time on different channels.
Bah! I’m just ticked off that another great show is meeting its end just because it can’t gobble up a 20 share in ratings (or whatever).
Google is rolling out cool new themes for Gmail.
You will have to log out and log back in, but only if your current layout of Gmail tweaks just ever so slightly… If it looks different to you and you can’t quite put your finger on it (the normal blue color changes just a bit), but you don’t see a “themes” link in your Settings window… Then log out and log back in and you should see a big yellow bar across the top letting you know Themes are available to you.
If your Gmail looks the same as it always has, just wait a little while – it may be minutes, hours or days, they’re rolling out the changes slowly but I’m guessing they’ll probably be done by the end of the week.
I’m using “candy” on one of my accounts, tea house on another, and desk on a third.
Why is it that every time I go to Subway for lunch, I can still smell the place on my clothes hours later? And while the smell inside the store is nice (mmm… fresh bread!), the after-smell doesn’t smell so great? (it’s like a sour bread-going-bad smell)
It’s like walking into a restaurant or bar that allows smoking and coming out smelling like cigarettes later even if you didn’t do any of the smoking.
Here is what I spent some of my weekend trying to figure out how to make:
It’s not a great picture, I took it with my camera phone. But if it’s hard to tell what they are, it’s gingerbread men. The first one on the left is a dud, I made the clay too thin and attempted to correct it by adding some clay to the back, but quickly found that wasn’t very astheticaly pleasing and trying to blend the seams without squishing the rest of it was more work than I was willing to put into it.
The two on the right are about 2/3rd done in the pic, I finished by adding eyes, smiles and rolls of white clay on the feet and hands for icing. And a holly berry & leaf on their heads. Then I made four small round beads that will go with them. I’ll take more pictures after they’re baked, which I am going to save for when I have more beads to cook – energy conservation and all that. 🙂
So what do you think? Are they cute enough? These are merely testers since I still need to test them out after baking to see how much abuse they’ll take on a bracelet before I would consider selling them. I wouldn’t want one of their little bodies to fall off and get lost somewhere (the thread hole is drilled sideways through their heads).
