I’m not Jeff – who the heck is Jeff?

I have had my cell phone number for 14 months now, since we got our first iPhones in July 2007.  Almost immediately after we activated our phones, I started getting phone calls for some guy named Jeff.

At first, I thought, no biggie, someone by that name probably had the same phone number at one point but maybe it got shut off and then was recycled.  We get that with our home phone number (still, after five months since we changed it), and I’m sure cell phone numbers get recycled a heck of a lot more often than land line numbers.

But anyway.  Most of the calls either came from Georgia or California.  Strange, considering my number is not based in any of either state’s area codes, although if two digits are transposed, it DOES match to one in Cali.

After a couple of months, I started to wonder if maybe they were dialing the wrong number.  Although, I think it is rather strange that so many different people can dial a phone number wrong – and get me nearly every time.  I think I’ve had no less than 10 calls for this guy over the past year.  And there have been both various women AND men calling for him.

The most recent one was just a few minutes ago.  From Georgia.  I’ve started telling people they have the wrong number, as I highly doubt anyone would still be trying to reach this guy at a number that has been MINE for over a year.  One would think he would have, you know, passed his NEW number around to everyone by now.
